As expected, feeding the fish can be as varied as the fish themselves. Not only is the food's content important, but so is where in the tank the fish feeds (upper, middle or bottom).
While natural foods are available and becoming more widely used, as a beginning fish hobbyist I'll start with the manufactured foods. I expect that my fish store personnel can point out the best food for the type of fish I'll keep, and I'll check the ingredients to see how well they meet the following targets:
It appears better to feed fish small amounts several times a day, rather than one large feeding. While most fish are on self-imposed diets, excess feeding will add to the contamination of the water.
The food will also be varied, two to three different types. (Cheeseburgers and fries would get boring to us if me had to eat it every day -- maybe.)
I picture standing with my hands on my hips, looking at the wonderful and relaxing sight of six healthy, recently fed, little Zebras swimming around this enormous tank of water.
How do I keep it that way? I need to know when to Paint the Trim and Mow The Lawn. Let's Get Some Fish! will return you to the start.
