![]() Need a Pet Sitter?Pets mean a lot to many of us and we want to give them as much of our own personal attention as we possibly can. But occasions sometimes arise that require a separation -- a few hours or a few days. The thought of using a kennel or other boarding arrangements seems too harsh and unfeeling. So, get them a "sitter!" Pet sitting is a growing business, especially in the major metropolitan areas. A good "Pet" sitter will care for your pet as well (or better) than a trusted "baby" sitter; without changing the environment to which your pet is accustomed. You set down your own "list" of requirements, emergency numbers, etc. and the sitter provides the personal, one-on-one interaction that your pet would probably not receive at a boarding facility. However, as you would when choosing a baby sitter, you need to do some careful screening to find a responsible pet sitter -- one that will interact well with your pet. Make yourself a checklist of care taking items important to you, and then find a pet sitter that meets your needs. Then, do the "tummy test" -- if your checklist says "yes" but your tummy says "no" keep looking. It is probably a good idea to finalize on a pet sitter before you really have a need for one. There are several ways to begin our search. Your Vet may be able to recommend a sitter; get a name from a friend; check at your local pet store; or, take a walk through the Yellow Pages. You can also check with Pet Sitter organizations:
REMEMBER, from whatever source to you get a sitter's name, CHECK THE SITTER OUT!! Make sure they meet your standards and pass your "tummy test." | |||||||
