The British Shorthair
The British Shorthair is similar to the American Shorthair except for broader, more rounded heads with more developed cheeks. First known as the British Blue. Its body is fuller and its fur is plusher than the American's. Small, round-tipped ears. Large round eyes and a short nose. Little grooming required. A favored "movie" cat. Permanent "smile" -- the "Cheshire Cat."

- SIZE: Medium to large (12 to 18 pounds)
- TEMPERAMENT: Laid back, aloof (typical British "reserve". Very self-sufficient. Patient. Good with children and other pets.
- COLORS: White, cream, lavender, blue, chocolate, black, cream and white, blue-cream, blue and white, black and white. Calico and calico dilute. Spotted: blue, silver, red, cream. Tabby: brown classic, red classic, blue classic, red mackerel, Tortoiseshell. Smoke: black tortie. Tipped: black, red.
