The Xoloitzcuintli from I Love Dogs website
The Xoloitzcuintli (pronounced show-low-eats-queen-tlee), or "Xolo," is an ancient, natural breed from Mexico. It comes in three sizes – toy, miniature and standard, and two varieties – hairless and coated. In the hairless variety, the skin is tough, protective, smooth and close fitting. The coated variety is covered by a short, flat coat. In both varieties, a dark, uniform color is preferred, ranging from black, gray black, slate, to red, liver or bronze, although white spots and markings are permitted. Today, this breed serves as a guard and companion AKC Profile.
Very active and can make good guard dogs. A great escape artist.

We STRONGLY recommend that you get your dog from a respectable breeder or rescue organization. Pet stores and Internet sellers may get their dogs from Puppy Mills that normally breed only for profit, not quality or concern for the puppy or its eventual owner.
If you would like help locating a breeder or rescue agency near you please E-Mail PGAA ( email@example.com), and let us know your city/state and the type of dog you are looking for. Do not assume that PGAA has qualified all of the breeders or rescues on this site. Do your own check of each breeder or rescue -- be sure that you are comfortable with the organization before you buy, adopt or turn-over a dog.
