The Tibetan MastiffHound Group
The Tibetan Mastiff is a big, impressive dog. Noble and powerfully built with a solemn yet kindly appearance. It is highly intelligent, independent, and strong willed. He is aloof with strangers and highly protective of his charges and his property. If left outside at night it may be a barker -- as he really prefers to be indoors with its family. Must be socilaized with the outside world, other people, pets, and children. It is best to start this as soon as possible as a pup. This is not an apartment dog. Lifetime can be exceptionally long for a large breed (10-14 years).
Relevant Web SitesAmerican Tibetan Mastiff Association Book SuggestionsWe STRONGLY recommend that you get your dog from a respectable breeder or rescue organization. Pet stores and Internet sellers may get their dogs from Puppy Mills that normally breed only for profit, not quality or concern for the puppy or its eventual owner.
If you would like help locating a breeder or rescue agency near you please E-Mail PGAA ( ita408@comcast.net), and let us know your city/state and the type of dog you are looking for. Do not assume that PGAA has qualified all of the breeders or rescues on this site. Do your own check of each breeder or rescue -- be sure that you are comfortable with the organization before you buy, adopt or turn-over a dog. | |||||||||||||||||||
