The Papillon, sometimes called the Butterfly Dog, is outgoing and friendly. It plays well with other cats and dogs but forgets how small it is - sometimes a problem when he invites a much larger dog to play. An OK apartment dog who is comfortable either snuggling or playing, but can be very difficult to house train. If not accustomed to the routine apartment house noise they may bark excessively, and become a nuisance to the neighbors. They do need exercise, but it doesn't have to be heavy exercise. The Papillon is an almost odorless dog that needs regular brushing.
