The Otterhound is a friendly, mellow and undemanding dog that is good with children but who may, unintentionally, bump smaller kids. They are good with other animals especially if raised with them. They may join in any singing, or start a song on their own. The Otterhound needs lots of exercise and it is good if that included swimming. Be careful to control their situation because once they get a good scent they're off to the hunt and lose focus of anything else. Must be brushed on a weekly basis.
