The Kerry Blue Terrier will push the envelope to determine what it can get away with, and needs a consistent and firm owner. Early training and socialization is necessary to develop a friendly companion. They can be dog aggressive and should be watched when around other family pets (cats/hamsters, etc.) until you're sure they accept one another. Kerry Blues are great with children and strong enough to withstand some "rough-housing" (within limits). They are clean dogs with no odor and little shedding - good dog for allergy suffers. A good apartment dog who needs minimal exercise, but will gladly partake of all the walks you give him. A crowd pleaser. They should be brushed weekly and professionally groomed every two months. Check their ears on a regular basis and trim hair away from the ear canal.
