The Gordon Setter is one of the more "talkative" dogs and can have quite a varied vocabulary for different situations. Though not Italian, their wagging tail plays a big role in their conversations. A great family dog who is good with children and will tend to move away from an annoyance rather then growl or snarl. Training should be early and consistent as the Gordon Setter can develop a stubborn streak. Brisk exercise is very important as well as having a place to roam (fenced yard). They are not recommended for apartment life. Brush as necessary to maintain its coat. Look for tangles and burrs especially after being outdoors.
