The German Pinscher was bred as a ratter and is similar to a Doberman Pinscher only smaller. With firm and consistent training and handling from an early age they can grow up to be a great companion dog. They are very protective of its owner and his property and, unless properly trained and socialized can be come protective of what they define as "theirs". Not a dog for all families. They are high energy and need strong handling. The German Pinscher may not be a good dog with children. Then may bite first and ask questions later if encountered with suspicious movement or teasing. They will not back away from a fight with another dog. The German Pinscher needs to be exercised on a daily basis. Grooming is minimal. They do not have a doggy odor.
