The English Foxhound is very similar to the American Foxhound except it is more stout and slower. They are very good with children and their overall temperament is mild. If raised as family pets they should do well in a family environment. If bred to hunt, much more patience and training is required, especially if they will be around other non-canine pets. May be hard to housebreak. Foxhounds need a great deal of exercise and are not recommended for apartment life. Their short and smooth coat grooms easily. They tend to "bay".
