The American Foxhound is very similar to the English Foxhound except it is taller, slimmer and faster (Max is an American Foxhound). They are very good with children and their overall temperament is mild. If raised as family pets they should do well in a family environment. If bred to hunt, much more patience and training is required, especially if they will be around other non-canine pets. May be hard to housebreak. Foxhounds need a great deal of exercise and are not recommended for apartment life. Their short and smooth coat grooms easily.
