The mild-mannered Field Spaniel makes a great pet for the active family. A very friendly dog when socialized during puppyhood. They love to play with children but do not enjoy roughhousing. They can become devoted to a single family member. They enjoy working and a challenge (fetch, hide and seek, doggy games, etc.), and need to be fully exercised. The Field Spaniel will go for long walks but enjoys to run. Best suited for rural life with a large fenced yard. It should be brushed regularly, especially after an outside romp or stroll in the woods.
