The body of each female dog carries all the chemical components necessary to destroy (eat-away) cellular tissue.

It takes several days after fertilization occurs for the eggs to become attached to the uterine wall so they can develop. Any, of a whole variety of traumas to the egg, can detach it and allow it to be broken down by ordinary body fluids. The newly impregnated bitch may jump too far, or run too much. She may swim in water that is too cold. All of these normal activities can be sufficient enough to dislodge the egg.

Medically, statistics indicate that one-third of each litter (or 1/3 of all fertilized eggs) are reabsorbed.
