Pet Guardian Angels of America's main goal is to provide enough information to the public so they can make an informed decision before getting a dog. And, after they get a dog, to help them with general care and health articles, relevant links, book suggestions, and, when necessary, rescue assistance.

Since mid-1998 this site has focused on providing rescue and adoption services and links, but now we believe that by offering visibility to reputable breeders, listed by breed and state, we can help steer more people to breeders and away from pet stores and puppy mills. This, in turn, will help reduce the number of dogs entering the rescue and adoption networks.

The need for visibility to reputable breeders is reinforced by the article Putting the Large Scale Breeding Operations Out of Business appearing in the Delaware Valley Golden Retreiver Rescue's "Golden Opportunities" newsletter and reprinted with permission by Robin L. Adams, President and Cofounder of Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Rescue (DVGRR). Originally published in Golden Opportunities, quarterly newsletter published by DVGRR, April-May-June 2007.

We will list your kennel if your dogs and puppies are/will be registered with the AKC (UKC or NKC for non-AKC recognized breeds) and, by applying to list your kennel, you affirm that:

· you agree to the Breed Club's breeding standards, and will properly register the litters;
· you are a member of a national or local breed club;
· you breed to improve the breed;
· you are not a puppy mill, and you do not support puppy mills;
· you do not breed for commercial sales to pet stores, pet brokers, dealers, or research companies;
· your guarantee provides for remedies after an initial, impartial vet check-up near the time of purchase, and that you will work with the owner if any genetic difficulties appear within a reasonable time.

PGAA reserves the right to remove any breeder from the list if we have a reasonable belief that the kennel is not conforming to the above items, or if the kennel, in our judgement, is using inhumane methods.

All PGAA visitors that are looking for breeders are advised the following: "Please be aware that PGAA has not screened any of the above kennels, and this IS NOT a recommendation for a kennel. No one agency (not even Breed Clubs) can consistently oversee and verify all kennels, SO.....do a thorough check of any kennel before buying, and the best way is to visit the breeder. Feel comfortable that they are professional and looking to place their dogs in the best possible home." "When visiting the kennel please use the Breeder Questionnaire"
