The German Wirehaired Pointer are "part of the family" family dogs. They love being with the family, especially children. They are not "kennel" sporting dogs - they crave human companionship. By their nature they need LOTS of exercise and may not make a good apartment dog. Good with other pets and great watchdogs. Their short, dense coat needs only minimal brushing.

We STRONGLY recommend that you get your dog from a respectable breeder or rescue organization. Pet stores and Internet sellers may get their dogs from Puppy Mills that normally breed only for profit, not quality or concern for the puppy or its eventual owner.

Do not assume that PGAA has qualified all of the breeders or rescues on this site.
