The Chesapeake Bay Retriever

Sporting Breed

Honker Hauler and Hardfrost from the Ball Bluff Kennels

The Chesapeake Bay Retriever can be strong willed and loves getting its own way. A strong, firm and consistent owner is very important especially in the dog's early years. They're an active dog who need hard exercise. If kept in doors indoors they could become lazy and overweight, or troublesome. The Chesapeake is good with children, and loves to play - just remember that they are a strong dog. Not recommended for apartment life, and should be afforded a fenced yard. Chessie's love the outdoors, especially the cooler climates. Can be aggressive with other dogs. Only an occasional firm brushing is needed.
