The Central Asian Shepherd Dog, also known as the Central Asian Ovtcharka, is a fearless guardian dog that will not back down. It requires a strong Alpha owner who is familiar with "flock guardianship". They mix well with family and enjoy a daily family interaction. They should be supervised when with children. They get along with other dogs and cats as long as the other animal acknowledges the "position" of the Central Asian. Shedding is a once a year "fur storm", usually in the spring when more grooming is necessary.
