The Barbet is a French Water Dog that is cheerful and intelligent and friendly to humans and other animals. A great family dog. Its thick, curley coat allows it to spend many hours in cold water and is a great waterfowl retriever. It can be an apartment dog as long as it gets daily walks and/or other stimulating exercise.
