This page contains a listing of purebred dog breeds and their profiles. These profiles contain links to other web site, rescue organizations and book recommendations.
A note of caution concerning these profiles.
The profiles are "general" to the breed. Factors that effect variations will be its breeding, training and socialization. Comments about the breeds acceptability with children assume that such an interaction is supervised, and that the children will not mistreat the dog. Know your dog well, learn its temperament and reactions to the various situations it will encounter, provide consistent training and handling. Any dog is capable of biting when faced with an out of the ordinary circumstance.

Do Not Buy from a Pet Store. Pet store puppies usually get their dogs from Puppy Mills that normally breed only for profit, not quality or concern for the puppy or its eventual owner. Please visit NoPuppyMills.com
We also caution about buying a puppy online. This especially includes generic "puppy" ads that may appear on the Internet. It is STRONGLY recommended that you thoroughly investigate these sites prior to buying especially if they cannot be linked back to a legitimate breeder. Please read the following articles:
