The Belgian LaekenoisHerding - AKC Foundation Stock Service (FSS)
![]() ![]() Pups and an adult from Kennel Sunreds
The Belgian Laekenois, pronounced Lak-in-wah, is believed to be the oldest, and the foundation, of the four varieties of Belgian Shepherd Dogs and is the rarest of these four breeds. It is smart and obedient with strong protective and territorial instincts. It will require extensive socialization. They thrive on loving companionship and are good children when well socialized. It is not a breed that can be locked away in a kennel -- it wants a family life. They are full of energy and need to be challenged with physical exercise as well as mental stimulus.
